Every once in a while I get questions about how to hang a banner at your event. Whether your party is in your home or at a rented venue, I know you want to make sure your decorations stay up all night, but don’t leave any marks behind on the wall! So I’m sharing 3 super simple options with you so you can be fully prepared. Keep reading for photos and an explanation, or click here to watch me demo all 3 options on IGTV!
1. Command hooks!
Command hooks are my absolute favorite way to hang a banner or garland. Did you know they make tiny clear ones now!? You can barely even see that they are there, and they are super easy to remove with absolutely no damage to the wall. My fave are called decorating clips and come it a pack of 40 for around $5!
2. Tape (Washi tape for bonus cuteness points!)
I know tape seems like a, “yeah duh“, but if you want to get a little more festive try some fun washi tape! Here’s a hint if the washi tape isn’t strong enough and the banner is slipping – Use a piece of clear scotch tape first and then cover it up with washi!
Another trick to mention while talking about tape… do what you can to HIDE your tape. In the photo below you can see I hid the tape on the side of the table where it is barely noticeable at all! Super secure, but doesn’t mess with the aesthetic at all.

3. Weigh it Down
Be creative and use what’s already available in your space. You can display it on the front of a table or hang it from a mantle using other items to weigh down the ends. Photo frames, vases, food platters, whatever you already have going on in that space! Try tying a knot in the string and putting the knot right under the heavy object. Don’t forget you can always trim the string if it’s too long!
There you have it, friends! Told you it was simple! If you need to see each method in action, take a look at my IGTV vid down below!
